About Varna

Varna is located in north-eastern Bulgaria, on the Black Sea coast. In the era of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, Varna turned into a busy shopping centre, which traded with Genoa, Venice, Dubrovnik. The tourist boom of the twentieth century turned Varna into one of the favourite vacation spots of Bulgarian and foreign tourists.

Sunny Beach is one of the most popular and expensive resorts in the country with five-star hotels and discos, which do not stop even for a minute. Sunny Beach has a very small permanent population, but in summer the resort is home to many thousands of tourists. The main strip of high hotels, which rests on the beach, is 5 km long and stretches along a wide bay between Sveti Vlas and Nessebar, will soon connect with the village of Tankovo. Planning of Sunny Beach began in 1957, and construction began on June 30, 1958. Construction of Sunny Beach began north of the Nessebar Strait in an area that geographers have long called the small Nessebar Desert – endless sands that form dunes.

Burgas International Airport is located 27 km from Sunny Beach, while the seaport and the Burgas Railway Station are 40 km away. It has regular connections with the regional centres of Burgas (40 km) and Varna (90 km). Sunny Beach is located 290 km from Plovdiv, 90 km from Varna.
